Ø800mm wood-grain round tabletop mold project

PAIN POINTS

The tabletop is large in diameter and thin (only 2.5mm). The old mold showed visible weld lines at fill ends, and uneven shrinkage caused edge warpage after ejection. Sunlight reflection on the warped surface appeared uneven, undermining the premium positioning.

MOTEK SOLUTION

• Used center multi-point gating with balanced hot runner system to eliminate weld lines and achieve uniform filling.
• Designed conformal cooling channels keeping temperature variation ≤2°C across the tabletop, controlling warpage within 0.3mm.
• Used S136 mirror steel with fine etching to achieve realistic wood-grain effect and Class-A surface.

One-piece folding dining table mold project (tabletop + folding mechanism)

PAIN POINTS

The folding mechanism is integrated with the tabletop. The old mold showed weld lines and insufficient strength at the hinge area, with cracks appearing before 10,000 folding cycles. Sink marks at rib roots were also visible, affecting appearance and load capacity.

• Used Moldflow analysis to optimize gate and venting at hinge area, eliminating weld lines and improving local strength.
• Used beryllium copper inserts to accelerate rib-root cooling, eliminating sink marks and reducing cooling time by 20%.
• Achieved 15% weight reduction through local thinning and structural optimization while maintaining load capacity.
