Large laundry baskets have thin walls and large surfaces. The old mold's poor venting and uneven cooling caused obvious weld lines and flow marks on the product surface. Edge mesh holes had severe flash, requiring extensive manual trimming. A 55-second cycle could not meet peak season demand.

• Designed stepped vent grooves and insert venting structures for smooth, burr-free mesh hole edges.

1×2 mesh laundry basket mold project (hinge + handle integrated molding)

PAIN POINTS

Mesh laundry baskets have dense holes and thin walls prone to deformation. The old mold's unbalanced multi-cavity filling caused large weight differences between cavities, out-of-tolerance hole dimensions, and poor assembly fit. The handle-to-basket joint had insufficient strength, breaking during transport, resulting in high customer complaint rates.

• Used multi-cavity balanced runners and hot runner systems, ensuring cavity-to-cavity weight variation ≤±1.5%.
• Designed handle reinforcement inserts and localized thickening, passing 30kg pull test without breakage.
• Optimized shut-off surface pre-load control, holding hole position accuracy within ±0.05mm.
