Household Square Open-Top Trash Can Mold — Product Introduction (Motek Daily Necessities Mold Series)

Product Positioning

Motek introduces dedicated injection molds for household square open-top trash cans. These products feature a square open mouth or open-hole lid design, offering a simple structure that facilitates bag fitting and emptying, widely used in kitchens, living rooms, bathrooms, and desktop office scenarios. Compared with automatic flip-top or complex-mechanism trash cans, the core challenges of square open-top trash can molds lie in warpage control of the square body, zero-burr forming of open-hole edges, and fit precision between the body and lid/retaining ring. Motek configures dedicated solutions around cavity layout, cooling systems, and edge treatment, helping customers achieve stable mass production of square open-top trash cans.

Product Features

Warpage Control for Square Bodies.

Square structures exhibit differing deformation amounts along the four edges versus the diagonal direction during shrinkage, prone to diagonal warping or side wall concavity. Motek evaluates shrinkage distribution of square bodies through mold flow analysis, applies pre-deformation compensation to the cavity, and adopts cooling channels symmetrically arranged along all four edges to equalize cooling rates across body walls. Reinforcement ribs are arranged at the bottom-to-side-wall transition areas, with rib thickness controlled at 50%–60% of main wall thickness to enhance rigidity while avoiding sink marks on appearance surfaces.

Zero-Burr Forming of Open-Hole Edges.

The top opening or open mouth edge of square trash cans is the area directly contacting trash bags and hands; burrs or sharp edges affect user experience and may tear trash bags. Motek adopts insert forming or precision machining in the opening area, with hole edges chamfered or rounded to eliminate injection burrs. During trial molding, emphasis is placed on inspecting opening edge quality and mouth flatness.

Fit Precision Between Body and Lid/Retaining Ring.

Square open-top trash cans typically feature a retaining ring or simple lid for securing trash bags. Motek applies dedicated tolerance control to retaining ring snap-fits and body mouth mating surfaces, ensuring tight fit without loosening after installation while facilitating removal for bag replacement. For lidded models, the fit clearance between lid and body mouth is controlled to ensure smooth closing.

Cooling and Demolding Optimization for Deep-Cavity Bodies.

Trash can bodies are deep-cavity structures where uneven cooling can easily cause warpage or demolding difficulties. Motek adopts conformal cooling channels focusing on the bin bottom and side wall transition areas to shorten cooling time. The demolding system uses ejector pins combined with a stripper plate for composite ejection, with ejection points preferentially located in non-appearance areas of the bin bottom, ensuring deep-cavity bodies release smoothly with no visible ejector marks on appearance surfaces.

Appearance Surface Quality and Surface Treatment.

Household trash cans have certain appearance requirements, with body exterior walls requiring smooth, mark-free surfaces. Motek positions gates at the bin bottom or non-appearance surfaces, using hot runners or submarine gates to conceal gate marks. Cavity surfaces can receive mirror polishing (high-gloss models) or fine-texture etching (matte/scratch-resistant models) according to product positioning, with texture uniformity subject to consistency control.

Bag-Fitting and Emptying Convenience Design.

The square open-mouth design facilitates trash bag insertion and securing, with mouth edges rounded to prevent bag tearing. Anti-slip foot pad mounting positions or integrally formed anti-slip structures can be designed on the bin bottom, ensuring stable placement on the floor and preventing sliding during bag fitting.

Applications

Motek household square open-top trash can molds are suitable for:

  • Kitchen square open-mouth trash cans
  • Living room/bathroom square open-top trash cans
  • Under-desk square trash cans for offices
  • Square bag-securing trash cans with retaining rings
  • Minimalist style square open-mouth storage bins

Service Process

After the customer provides 3D product drawings, capacity specifications, and appearance requirements, Motek completes mold flow analysis (including square warpage evaluation, open-hole edge forming plans, and cooling optimization) and mold structure confirmation; cavity steel and hot runner systems are procured according to agreed specifications; progress and key milestones are regularly reported during processing. During trial molding, emphasis is placed on verifying square body flatness, open-hole edge quality, and retaining ring fit precision, with samples provided for confirmation. Before shipment, molds undergo anti-rust treatment and action testing, with water circuit diagrams, hot runner wiring diagrams, consumable parts lists, and maintenance instructions provided. Technical support is available during the warranty period, with lifetime maintenance consultation.

Motek — From open-mouth storage bins to square open-top trash cans, providing reliable mold solutions for injection molding of household daily necessities.
