Kiwi & Avocado Stackable Universal Orchard Plastic Turnover Box Mold — Product Introduction (Motek Turnover Box Mold Series)

Product Positioning

Motek introduces dedicated injection molds for stackable universal orchard plastic turnover boxes engineered for kiwifruit and avocado handling. Kiwifruit and avocado are both premium, bruise-sensitive fruits with distinct post-harvest requirements: kiwifruit requires careful handling to avoid skin damage and controlled ventilation during ripening, while avocado demands cushioning against compression and airflow to manage ethylene and moisture. A universal design serving both fruit types must balance gentle contact surfaces, efficient ventilation, and structural strength for orchard-to-packinghouse logistics. The core challenges in mold development lie in smooth interior surface forming to prevent fruit bruising, precision ventilation slot design for ripening and moisture control, and structural reinforcement for multi-layer stacking. Motek addresses these through cavity layout, cooling design, and demolding mechanisms, helping customers achieve stable mass production of dual-purpose orchard boxes.

Product Features

Smooth Interior Surfaces to Protect Bruise-Sensitive Fruit.

Kiwifruit skin is thin and easily abraded, while avocado skin is sensitive to compression marks. Motek polishes cavity interior surfaces to a smooth finish, eliminating burrs, sharp edges, and rough textures that could damage fruit skin. All corners, rib roots, and slot edges are rounded to eliminate sharp edges. Ejection points are preferentially located in non-contact areas, preventing ejection marks from forming protrusions that could bruise fruit.

Ventilation Slot Design for Ripening and Moisture Control.

Both kiwifruit and avocado require airflow during storage and transport—kiwifruit for ripening management and avocado for ethylene and moisture dissipation. Motek forms ventilation slots directly in the cavity with clean, burr-free edges, with slot dimensions and spacing designed to balance airflow efficiency with structural rigidity. Venting inserts are positioned at slot-forming areas to prevent trapped gas during injection.

Structural Reinforcement for Multi-Layer Stacking.

Orchard turnover boxes are stacked several layers high during harvest and packinghouse operations. Motek reinforces corner posts and base runners through optimized wall thickness and rib layout, ensuring the box maintains rigidity under stacked loads. Mold flow analysis verifies filling completeness at corner nodes where wall sections converge.

Universal Design for Kiwifruit and Avocado.

The box accommodates both fruit types with compartment layouts and ventilation patterns suitable for varying fruit sizes and handling requirements. Motek verifies dimensional compatibility with standard produce packaging and handling equipment during the design phase, ensuring the universal design does not compromise fruit-specific protection.

Stacking and Nesting Functionality.

Boxes feature stacking shoulders for stable vertical stacking and nesting features for empty box storage and transport. Motek forms these features with tight tolerance control, ensuring boxes stack securely without shifting and nest compactly when empty. Stacking shoulder dimensions are verified for compatibility with standard pallets and orchard logistics systems.

UV Stabilization and Outdoor Durability.

Orchard crates are often exposed to sunlight during field use. Motek coordinates with customers on UV-stabilized PP/HDPE grades and adjusts cavity dimensions to account for the shrinkage characteristics of modified materials. Wall thickness at impact-prone areas (corners, base edges) is appropriately increased to enhance durability.

Applications

Motek kiwi & avocado stackable universal orchard plastic turnover box molds are suitable for:

  • Kiwifruit harvesting and transport crates
  • Avocado harvesting and packing boxes
  • Mixed premium fruit orchard logistics crates
  • Cold storage and ripening room crates
  • Washable orchard storage and display boxes

Service Process

After the customer provides 3D product drawings, fruit specifications, load-bearing requirements, ventilation specifications, and stacking layer requirements, Motek completes mold flow analysis (including slot-forming evaluation, warpage compensation, and corner strength verification) and mold structure confirmation; cavity steel and hot runner systems are procured according to agreed specifications; progress and key milestones are regularly reported during processing. During trial molding, emphasis is placed on verifying interior surface smoothness, ventilation slot quality, stacking stability, and load-bearing performance, with samples and inspection reports provided. Before shipment, molds undergo anti-rust treatment and action testing, with water circuit diagrams, consumable parts lists, and maintenance instructions provided. Technical support is available during the warranty period, with lifetime maintenance consultation.

Motek — From standard orchard crates to kiwi and avocado universal logistics boxes, providing reliable mold solutions for premium fruit packaging.
