Chicken Cage / Poultry Storage Crate Mold — Product Introduction (Motek Turnover Box Mold Series)

Product Positioning

Motek introduces dedicated injection molds for plastic chicken cages/poultry storage crates used in poultry farming, live poultry transport, and temporary holding. These products differ from standard turnover boxes in several key respects: highly ventilated mesh structures to support live poultry respiration, stacking designs supporting 8–10 layers to improve transport efficiency, and smooth interior walls for easy cleaning and disinfection. Additionally, poultry cages must withstand the movement impact of live birds and frequent handling, placing high demands on structural strength and stacking stability. The core challenges in mold development lie in demolding mechanism design for large-area mesh structures, high-precision forming of stacking positions, and balanced filling of thin-wall mesh areas through hot runner systems. Motek configures dedicated solutions around slider core-pulling systems, hot runner layout, and cooling optimization, helping customers achieve stable mass production of poultry cages.

Product Features

Forming and Demolding of Large-Area Mesh Structures.

Poultry cage bottoms, sides, and tops all require open mesh designs to provide adequate ventilation during transport. Motek integrally forms mesh structures and reinforcement ribs in the mold, with mesh area steel requiring sufficient wear resistance. Demolding adopts a stripper plate system, uniformly pushing the product off the core to prevent thin-wall mesh areas from deforming or cracking due to concentrated ejector pin forces.

Hot Runner System Optimizing Thin-Wall Mesh Filling.

Poultry cages are medium-to-large plastic parts with thin walls and long flow paths in mesh areas. Motek adopts hot runner technology to optimize mold structure and shorten cycle time while ensuring uniform melt filling in mesh areas, reducing short shots and weld line defects. Mature industry solutions employ 8-point YUDO hot runner systems with 780T injection molding machines; Motek matches runner layouts according to specific cage dimensions and mesh density.

Stacking Stability and High Stacking Capacity.

Poultry cages must support 8–10 layer stacking during transport and temporary holding. Motek applies strict tolerance control to stacking positions and locating corners, ensuring stable multi-layer stacking without shifting or collapsing. Wall thickness transitions are optimized at the four corners and stacking contact areas to avoid stress concentration that could cause stacking position cracking.

Cleaning and Disinfection Convenience Design.

After live poultry transport, cages require cleaning and disinfection. Motek polishes cavity interior surfaces to ensure smoothness without dead corners, facilitating flushing and disinfectant contact. Mesh edges are rounded to eliminate sharp edges, protecting both birds and easing cleaning.

Integrally Formed Top Sliding Door and Carrying Handles.

Poultry cages typically feature top sliding doors for bird entry/exit and carrying handles on both sides. Motek integrally forms sliding door tracks, latch positions, and handle structures in the mold, ensuring smooth door operation with reliable locking and handles that bear full-load carrying requirements.

Mold Steel and Heat Treatment Processes.

For the medium-to-large dimensions of poultry cage molds, Motek references mature industry configurations: mold bases use 45# steel, with cores, cavities, and sliders using 718H nitrided treatment to achieve over 1,000,000 shot life; for moderate output requirements, P20 nitrided configurations can meet 500,000 shot life requirements. Steel heat treatment employs quenching and tempering, vacuum quenching, and holding tempering processes to ensure uniform hardness across components and prevent localized brittle fracture.

Applications

Motek chicken cage/poultry storage crate molds are suitable for:

  • Live poultry transport cages (chickens, ducks, geese, pigeons)
  • Poultry temporary holding/storage boxes
  • Stackable poultry turnover crates
  • Small animal transport boxes (rabbits, piglets, etc.)
  • Farm poultry transfer cages

Service Process

After the customer provides 3D product drawings, cage dimensions, stacking layer requirements, and target output, Motek completes mold flow analysis (including mesh area filling evaluation, hot runner layout, and stripper plate demolding plans) and mold structure confirmation; cavity steel is selected per output requirements (P20/718H nitrided); progress and key milestones are regularly reported during processing. During trial molding, emphasis is placed on verifying mesh forming completeness, stripper plate demolding smoothness, stacking stability, and sliding door function, with samples provided for confirmation. Before shipment, molds undergo anti-rust treatment and action testing, with water circuit diagrams, hot runner wiring diagrams, consumable parts lists, and maintenance instructions provided. Technical support is available during the warranty period, with lifetime maintenance consultation.
